The School of Professional Studies is inviting Clarkies to engage in festivities of gratitude and togetherness at an event this week fusing the traditions of Diwali and Thanksgiving.
The dual celebration on Friday will feature cuisine representative of both holidays, a photo booth, caricature artists, and giveaways, says Mia Cariglia, the SPS student activities coordinator and event organizer.
“The purpose of this event is to bring the Clark community together to celebrate and learn more about these two cultural holidays,” she says. “We want to create an atmosphere of creativity, learning, and happiness for all Clarkies.”
Attendees are asked to bring a donation for Jeremiah’s Inn, a Worcester organization that assists the community via a food pantry and residential substance use recovery program. Requested items include coriander, red lentils, rices, dried kidney beans, cereal, canned tuna, oil, canned chicken, spaghetti, and curry powder.
All students, faculty, and staff are welcome at the event from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Dolan Field House. The event is sponsored by SPS, the Department of International Development, Community, and Environment, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Graduate Student Council.
