Clark featured in The Princeton Review’s 2022 Guide to Green Colleges

Clark University is included among the nation’s most environmentally responsible colleges, according to The Princeton Review. The education services company features Clark in its website resource, The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2022 Edition, released on Oct. 26; the free guide is accessible online.

The Princeton Review chose the 420 schools in the guide based on its survey of administrators at 835 colleges in 2020-21 about their institutions’ commitments to the environment and sustainability. The company’s editors analyzed more than 25 data points from the survey to tally Green Rating scores for each school on a scale of 60 to 99; Clark University earned a Green Rating of 89. The Green Rating scores appear in the school profiles on The Princeton Review website and in The Princeton Review book, The Best 387 Colleges: 2022 Edition, published in August.

“We strongly recommend Clark University to students who care about the environment want to study and live at a green college,” said Rob Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief. “Clark offers excellent academics and demonstrates a commitment to sustainability that is exemplary on many counts.”

Clark’s profile mentions that “recent capital investments to improve energy and water efficiency throughout campus… are on track to exceed projected savings,” and that “EV charging stations (the first in central Massachusetts) and ride share options encourage green transportation.” It also includes that Clark’s “sustainability-focused institutes and programs (Marsh, IDCE, CENTED, HERO) provide applied and action research opportunities for students on campus, in the community and across the globe” and reports “Clark students have incredible access to parks and green spaces, such as the Hadwen Arboretum or University Park.”

Earlier this year, Clark was included in The Princeton Review’s list of Best Value Colleges, and held the #3 spot on the list of Top 20 Best Schools for Making an Impact (private schools).
