The Clark University Class of 2020 will be honored at the University’s 116th Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at noon (EDT). This one-hour, online-only event will be livestreamed at clarku.edu/commencement as well as on Facebook Live.
Despite the nontraditional circumstances preventing an in-person event, Clark’s virtual celebration will feature traditional Commencement moments, including an address from President David Angel, speeches by students Maha Akbar ’20 and Simran Achpal, MSC ’20, and the formal conferring of academic degrees.
Board of Trustees Chair Ross Gillman ’81, deans Betsy Huang and Yuko Aoyama, and Gino DiIorio ’83, chair of the faculty, also will offer remarks.
The event will feature fun musical performances and surprise videos to help recognize and congratulate the Class of 2020 for all they’ve accomplished. Families and friends are invited to join Clark in expressing their pride and appreciation at a memorable time. All are encouraged to sign in about 10 minutes in advance to enjoy a video of campus life.
“I am exceedingly honored and proud to welcome the Class of 2020 into the alumni ranks, and I do so with the deepest admiration for the fortitude, the ingenuity, the grace, and the compassion they have displayed in their time at Clark,” President Angel said. “Knowing that this resilient and talented group is stepping into the wider world, eager to accept its stiffest challenges, is a source of tremendous optimism.”
Clark plans to hold an on-campus, face-to-face celebration of 2020 graduates this fall — or whenever such gatherings are safe. More information will be forthcoming.
