Clarkives
The 1977–78 year was bright for Clark Athletics. Men’s basketball won their first-ever place in the NCAA tournament, and women’s volleyball — in only their second season of play at Clark — were division champs.
Women’s Volleyball captured the MAIAW (Massachusetts Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) Division Ill State Championship in 1978.
MAIAW was founded in 1971 to promote competitions among female athletes in Massachusetts colleges.

The spiking of Jane K. Frost, Petra Duemmler, Jennifer Burrell, Elyse Darefsky, and Diane Wycinowski based on the precision setting of Jane Grant, Susan Cortina, and Lelanie Oei and the defense of Robin Mouchon, carried the team to a 17-4 record; undefeated in Division Ill.
With five of six starters returning, the future looks bright for Women’s Volleyball at Clark.
