A microcomputer center opened in room 105 of Jonas Clark Hall in 1984. This photo from the 1984 Pasticcio shows some of the 40 DEC (Digital Equipment Corporation) Rainbow 100 computers in the center, which was known as “The Rainbow Room.” Each of the computers was equipped with a staggering 256 KB memory capacity (the computers available for public use on campus today have 16 MB).
JC105 is still filled with computers, but it is an instructional space. Public computer spaces are available in Academic Commons and on the second and third floors of Goddard Library.
