This is a big week for Clark athletics with several teams competing in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) playoffs.
The women’s basketball team, coached by Bridgette Reyes, will play No. 2 seed Smith College in quarterfinal action beginning at 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, in Smith’s Ainsworth Auditorium. The Cougars finished the regular season with a 15-10 record (5-6 in NEWMAC play), earning a seventh seed in the NEWMAC Tournament.
The men’s basketball team (19-6, 13-3 NEWMAC), coached by Tyler Simms, closed out the regular season with a 19-6 record (13-3 in NEWMAC) to clinch the No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. The scarlet and white are slated to take on the winner of No. 3 Wheaton and No. 6 Emerson at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, in the Kneller Gymnasium.
Moving from the court to the pool, Clark’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams, coached by Paul E. Phillips, will compete in the NEWMAC championships February 22–25 at MIT.
