Madeleine J. Grinkis, former administrator in the Graduate School of Geography, died on Sunday, July 18, in Worcester.
Grinkis served as department administrator for 23 years, and enjoyed interacting with and supporting students from all over the world. During her time at Clark, she was named employee of the year in honor of her steadfast reliability and service.
She is survived by her sons: Mark B. Grinkis and his fiancée, Judy Potter, and Matt W. Grinkis and his wife, Stacey; her daughter, Carmen M. Grinkis ’85, and her wife, Kathrine Lovell; and her granddaughter, Ania Grinkis. Her husband, John, predeceased her.
Friends and family are invited to visit with Madeleine’s family on Wednesday, July 21, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Madeleine Grinkis Endowed Fund for Geography Student Stipends, established to provide funding for geography graduate students who are of high academic achievement and deserving of financial aid.
