President David Fithian on Dec. 15 delivered his first State of the University address, noting this as “a moment when we can harness our great strengths and, at the same time, challenge our own convention and welcome and embrace a world of new opportunity for Clark.”
President Fithian reflected on the challenging year and all that was accomplished through the University’s academic and research efforts, and strong community spirit. “We have demonstrated that as a community we are strong, and resilient, and adaptable, and that we care. We care about who we are, what we do, and how we do it.” He also cited the “Clark spirit” and an ethos of Clark “doing well for itself and doing good for others” as agents of momentum that can drive the University forward. A collaborative, University-wide strategic planning process to lay out a vision for the future will begin in earnest after the New Year.
