Clark University announces the appointment of Sheree M. Marlowe as chief officer of diversity and inclusion.
Marlowe, who will report directly to the president, will be responsible for the advancement and implementation of a strategic vision and initiatives that demonstrate the University’s commitment to maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students, faculty, staff and visitors. She will work with the senior leadership team, deans, department chairs, faculty, staff, student groups and other key campus and community partners to meet the University’s goals of equity, diversity and compliance. She is also responsible for overseeing Clark’s compliance with Title IX, as well as coordinating campuswide efforts to address sexual misconduct in all its forms.

I would also like to thank Professor Betsy Huang for her exemplary leadership in launching our Office of Diversity and Inclusion. We will continue to build on her good work.”
Since 2013, Marlowe served as the campus diversity officer for staff and students at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where, as a member of the chancellor’s cabinet, she advised senior leadership to advance diversity and inclusion as core institutional values that are central to the university’s mission. Before that, she was diversity and inclusion program manager at the University of California, San Francisco.
She began her career as an attorney specializing in several areas, including civil rights litigation and employment law, where she represented clients who were subjected to discrimination in the workplace.
Marlowe earned a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and a doctor of jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law.
She will begin work at Clark on June 27.
