best-colleges-national-universitiesThe newly released edition of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges guide again recognizes Clark University’s outstanding academics and financial value. The 2016 ranking places Clark at No. 75 among National Universities and No. 32 on the list of Best Value Schools. “This ranking is just one reflection of the growing recognition of Clark’s leadership and success in advancing liberal education for our students and for the communities with which we are engaged,” said President David Angel. “Through LEEP (Liberal Education and Effective Practice), Clark is preparing our students to meet the challenges of the 21st century, to address society’s most pressing concerns and build meaningful, successful lives.”

Clark University Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid, Don Honeman, adds, “Clearly, rankings are not a perfect measure of the college experience, yet it is noteworthy that the value of a Clark education is apparent in many of the metrics tracked by U.S. News. Students in ever-increasing numbers are aware of the ways in which Clark offers a college experience that connects a set of traditional liberal arts classroom experiences with compelling world and workplace experiences.”

Here’s an excerpt from the online summary about Clark from the 2016 U.S. News Best Colleges guide: “Research is a particular focus for students at Clark University. Undergraduates are encouraged to get involved, and students showcase their work each semester during Fall Fest and Academic Spree Day. The school’s research expertise is a century-long tradition; on campus in 1909, Sigmund Freud gave his famous Clark Lectures about psychoanalysis, and university researchers have been responsible for discoveries that led to the birth control pill and the formula for the wind-chill factor.”

The Best Colleges guidebook will be on sale in stores on Sept. 29 and also is available online. This year, Clark University is also featured in a break-out “Road Trip” profile in the print edition of the Best Colleges guide. Last October, a U.S. News writer spent a day visiting classes, labs and offices, speaking with students, faculty and administrators. The 2016 U.S. News Best Colleges guide offers data on nearly 1,800 schools, grouping schools based on categories created by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. Founded in 1887 in Worcester, Massachusetts, Clark University is a liberal arts-based research university addressing social and human imperatives on a global scale. Nationally renowned as a college that changes lives, Clark is emerging as a transformative force in higher education today. LEEP (Liberal Education and Effective Practice) is Clark’s pioneering model of education that combines a robust liberal arts curriculum with life-changing world and workplace experiences. Clark’s faculty and students work across boundaries to develop solutions to complex challenges in the natural sciences, psychology, geography, management, urban education, Holocaust and genocide studies, environmental studies, and international development and social change. The Clark educational experience embodies the University’s motto: Challenge Convention. Change Our World.
