Goldman Sachs strategist to reveal ‘Economic Road Ahead’ Oct. 11

Clark University will host Goldman Sachs credit strategist Charles Himmelberg for a President’s Lecture, “The Economic Road Ahead: Implications For Markets,” on Thursday, October 11, at 4:30 p.m., in Razzo Hall, Traina Center for the Arts, 92 Downing Street, Worcester.

The lecture is free and open to the public.

Himmelberg is head of Global Credit Strategy for Goldman Sachs’ Global Investment Research division in New York and a member of the firm’s Macro Research Operating Committee. He joined Goldman Sachs in 2005 and was named managing director in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Himmelberg worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York from 2001 to 2005, Columbia University from 1995 to 2001, New York University from 1990 to 1995, and the University of Chicago from 1991 to 1992. He has also been a consultant to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the World Bank, and is a member of the Federal Reserve Roundtable.

Himmelberg’s research expertise spans macroeconomics, corporate finance, asset pricing, and housing economics. His research has been recognized with awards from the National Science Foundation and the Western Finance Association, and has been published in a number of top academic journals, including the Journal of Monetary Economics and the Journal of Financial Economics.

Himmelberg earned a bachelor’s degree in math and economics, with distinction, from the University of Kansas in 1985, and a Ph.D. in economics from Northwestern University in 1990.
