Clark’s basketball teams excel at driving the lane. But on Saturday night, one lucky person in the Kneller gymnasium just may wind up driving a new car. It’s all part of the fun of “Cougars Gone Wild – Midnight Mayhem 2012,” a unique event to celebrate team spirit and show off Cougar pride; it will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Kneller Athletic Center. Doors open at 9 p.m. Midnight Mayhem is being organized by the Student Athletic Advisory Committee in association with the Clark Undergraduate Student Council. “The purpose behind producing Midnight Mayhem is really quite simple: to bring all walks of life from across campus — all students, staff, and faculty — together under one roof, to spend time with one another, celebrate what it is to be a Cougar and most importantly, have a great time building a sense of united pride for all things Clark,” said Sean Sullivan, director of Athletics and Recreation. “The students came to us with this idea, we liked it and they ran with it,” added Sports Information Director Kevin Anderson. “They took total ownership of every aspect of the event and that’s what we wanted. They all should be very proud of themselves.”
‘Our goal is to bring the entire Clark community closer by creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and school spirit.’
~ Parker Edmonds ’12, SAAC president
The first 300 participants will each receive a free T-shirt. The night will feature music, dance, and “minute-to-minute” games and a Knock Out competition to win prizes, gift cards, and an iPad — $6,000 worth of giveaways in all. You must have your Clark ID to be eligible for contests and win prizes. One of the highlights of the evening will be a raffle that gives the winner a chance to shoot a half-court shot for a new car. Those who attend the women’s and men’s Senior Day basketball games on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m. will have an opportunity to get up to two extra tickets. The event will kick off with free pizza from Oregano’s for the first hour only, a chance to socialize, and will also include a friendly game of Faculty Musical Chairs. DJ A-Smooth will play music and release 500 free copies of his latest mix-tape, and Clark University’s dance team, Hip Hop Collabo, will perform. The event is free for Clarkies, faculty and staff. “We’re attempting to start an annual tradition with Midnight Mayhem,” said Parker Edmonds ’12, SAAC president. “Our goal is to bring the entire Clark community closer by creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and school spirit.” For more information contact the Cougars Gone Wild: Midnight Mayhem 2012 team on Facebook or send an email to Parker Edmonds.
